PDMS (Plant Design Management System) as it is known in the 3D CAD industry, is a customizable, multi-user and multi-discipline, engineer controlled design software package for engineering, design and construction projects in offshore and onshore.
The Computer-Aided Design Centre (or CADCentre as it was more commonly referred to, and later formally became) was created in Cambridge, England, UK in 1967 by the UK Ministry of Technology. Its mission was to develop computer-aided design techniques and promote their take-up by British industry. The centre carried out much pioneering CAD research, and many of its early staff members went on to become prominent in the worldwide CAD community, such as brothers Dick Newell and Martin Newell.[1]
Dick Newell oversaw the creation of the Plant Design Management System (PDMS) for 3D process plant design. He later co-founded two software companies – Cambridge Interactive Systems (CIS) which was known for its Medusa 2D/3D CAD system, and Smallworld with its eponymous Smallworld GIS (Geographical Information System). Martin Newell later went to the University of Utah where he did pioneering 3D solid modelling work; he was also one of the progenitors of PostScript.

Smart plant 3D or SP3D is one of the best plant design solution programs developed by Intergraph (Hexagon).
This is a next-generation, data-centric, rule-driven piping design software package that is specifically designed to take care of all the critical elements of plant design. This truly iterative engineering design solution is capable of designing the plant, marine, material handling facilities with ease in a highly developed 3D environment providing a competitive edge to all piping specialists.
With its high-end graphics, SP3D by Hexagon PPM provides the ease of creating, analyzing, modifying, and optimizing a plant design model. Smart plant 3D as piping design software helps to effectively manage the schedule and cost for fast-track projects.

AVEVA E3D Design is the world’s most technologically advanced 3D design solution for the process plant, marine and power industries. PIPENET is the leader software for rapid fluid flow analysis of pipe and duct networks.
THREE SOFTWARE MODULES ensure that, no matter how extensive or complex your network, pipe flow simulation in PIPENET will be performed fast and accurately.
PIPENET has been in use across the globe for over 35 years, by companies large and small, including many multinationals, in the oil and gas, LNG, power generation, process, shipbuilding and fire protection industries. More and more of the companies that have discovered the quality and cutting edge expert technology PIPENET offers are standardizing the use of PIPENET through their own companies and stipulating PIPENET must be used by subcontractors. Who can blame them?

PV Elite is a complete solution for vessel and heat exchanger design, analysis and evaluation. The program is easy to learn and use so it is perfect for users requiring fast start-up and confidence in their safety code calculations.
PV Elite considers the whole vessel, addressing all of the wall thickness rules and stress analysis requirements for vertical towers, horizontal vessels and heat exchangers. It also evaluates and re-rates existing vessels, including Fitness for Service analysis.
